Product Liability Overview

When dangerous or defective products do not perform as can be reasonably expected, they are often the cause of serious personal injury or wrongful death. Product manufacturers are responsible for providing consumers with safe products. State and federal product liability laws provide remedies for victims of product defects. Often, civil litigation leads to positive changes in how products are manufactured and designed, which benefits all consumers. Our product liability lawyers and staff are committed to providing the highest quality legal representation.

If you or a loved one has suffered injuries or wrongful death from a dangerous or defective product, contact Shrager, Spivey & Sachs in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania today. The product liability lawyers with our firm are available to review your case.

Crashworthiness

Consumers rely on vehicle manufacturers to provide a safe product. A car's crashworthiness refers to how well protected its occupants are during the unfortunate circumstance of car accidents or trucking accidents. Crashworthy vehicles have safety features like seatbelts, air bags, areas that crumple to absorb impact energy, and roll bars to prevent vehicle roof crush incidents. Manufacturing or design defects in a vehicle's safety features affect its crashworthiness, causing unnecessary harm to drivers and their passengers. Defective seatbelts, air bags that don't deploy or inflate so rapidly as to cause injury, and poor SUV designs that leave the vehicle vulnerable to rollover accidents all fall into the category of crashworthiness. Our product liability lawyers can help you if you have suffered a car accident caused by a vehicle-manufacturing defect.

Defective Highway Design

As the number of vehicles on our highways increases beyond what they were intended to handle, safety becomes an issue. Auto accidents and truck accidents may be due to an improperly posted speed limit, a lack of signage warning drivers to slow down for bumps, dips, and other road hazards, or unsafe road construction. These and other highway defects are a form of product liability. Please contact our office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania if you think your highway accident was caused by a defective highway design. Our product liability lawyers will review your claim.

Pressure-Treated Lumber

To protect lumber from pests, mold, and fungus, it is often pressure treated with chromated copper arsenic (CCA). Pressure-treated lumber has been used to build decks, playgrounds, fences, and other constructions. Because CCA-treated lumber is suspected in the arsenic poisoning of workers who handle this type of lumber, its use was discontinued in 2003. There are also concerns about this toxin leaching into and contaminating ground water. If you or a family member has been exposed to pressure-treated lumber, please contact our Pennsylvania product liability lawyers today.
